Copper Wire Theft Prevention

Public Safety Police Physical Security

Copper wire theft is a growing problem in city infrastructure, particularly affecting streetlights, traffic signals, and utility systems. Thieves target copper wiring for its high resale value, leading to costly repairs, service disruptions, and safety hazards. In an attempt to combat this problem, municipalities have explored and implemented a wide range of solutions. Some of these include (but are not limited to) wire embedded GPS trackers, smart IoT sensors integrated with alarm systems and streetlight control platforms, wire marking techniques, video surveillance & real-time monitoring, and tamper-resistant devices to secure pullboxes and handholes.
