LabWare LIMS is an enterprise laboratory information management system that LabWare configures by industry, with offerings for forensic, public health, environmental, and other laboratories, and tools for interfacing with laboratory analyzers and robotics. Its forensics configuration includes case management, evidence management, and collection kit tracking, and U.S. government customers include several state public health laboratories. LabWare also sells LabWare WATER, a separate cloud SaaS LIMS for small and mid-size municipal water and wastewater utilities. LabWare WATER adds electronic chain of custody at the point of collection, a sampling point registry with location-specific methods and limits, NELAC/TNI and ISO 17025 support, and discharge monitoring report, Consumer Confidence Report, and electronic data deliverable outputs.
Thermo Scientific SampleManager is an enterprise laboratory information management system from Thermo Fisher Scientific used by forensic, environmental, water, and industrial laboratories. Its forensic configuration tracks chain of custody from receipt through archival, connects directly to instruments, and manages data for DNA, ballistics, and chemical testing. The software includes in-process checks to support ISO 17025 and ASCLD/LAB compliance. Thermo Fisher publishes water utility case studies, though those identified are outside the U.S.

It combines sample tracking from receipt to disposal, instrument scheduling and calibration tracking, and API-based import of instrument data with an electronic lab notebook. The product is positioned for research, biotech, pharmaceutical, and quality control laboratories, with audit trails supporting GxP and FDA 21 CFR Part 11 requirements. It is not marketed specifically to forensic, environmental, or public health government laboratories.
