INIT's MOBILE-APC is the automatic passenger counting component of its MOBILE telematics suite. Counts are captured by iris IRMA sensors, matched against schedule data on the onboard computer, and evaluated in MOBILEstatistics, a browser-based analysis and statistics back office. INIT describes MOBILEstatistics as a certifiable APC back-office system meeting VDV 457 standards for passenger counting projections, and cites NTD reporting in the US as a driver for statistically reliable projected data. Real-time occupancy is transmitted to the control system after each stop and can be pushed to dispatchers and riders.
