Vontas provides public transit fare payment technology.
Vontas is the intelligent transportation systems division launched by Trapeze Group Americas in 2021. Its APC offering is the IRMA Matrix solution, which Vontas sells and deploys under its own name using infrared and time-of-flight sensing for 98% accurate ridership counts, integrated directly into the Vontas OnRoute CAD/AVL platform and the OnRoute V8 IVLU onboard unit. Ridership analysis and NTD reporting are delivered through TransTrack Manager, resold under a partnership. The wider portfolio covers OnRoute (bus), OnTrack (rail), OnSite (yard management) and OnCall (VoIP).
Passio supplies automatic passenger counting as one module of a modular transit platform aimed at campuses, municipalities and specialised fleets. Counting runs on a ruggedised Android mobile data terminal, with fully automated counting available through a sensor partnership, and data flows to Passio Navigator, the cloud dashboard and reporting tool. Passenger data is recorded with time, date, location, stop, route and passenger type, and can be surfaced to riders through the Passio GO app. The wider platform covers CAD/AVL, automated voice announcements, LED signage and ID-card boarding validation.
TransLoc APC System TransLocTransLoc supplies an automatic passenger counting solution together with the supporting onboard hardware, designed to integrate with its own CAD/AVL platform and reporting dashboards. Counts are reported at 98–99% accuracy, meeting the FTA's 95% confidence and precision standard for National Transit Database reporting, and TransLoc also supports agencies through NTD certification. The units use polygon-based bi-directional counting to avoid double-counting, compensate automatically for sliding or swinging doors, and allow remote diagnostics without site visits. TransLoc's heritage is campus and shuttle transit, which is still reflected in its customer base.
Connexionz ConnexionzConnexionz supplies automatic passenger counting as part of its wider CAD/AVL and passenger information platform for small and mid-sized agencies. Counting uses the iris IRMA MATRIX lidar sensor under a partnership, delivering 98%+ accuracy and distinguishing adults, children, closely spaced riders, wheelchairs, bicycles and strollers. Counts reach agencies through the Connexionz Business Intelligence application, which produces ridership, on-time performance and NTD reporting. Where formal NTD certification is required, Connexionz works with Urban Transportation Associates, which also appears separately in this landscape.
